Switzerland, I salute you,
Your massive mountains, and wondrous waterfalls,
The climbs that had me puffing, and the views that dropped my jaw.
The cows, the bells, the dairy, the chocolate.
You toned my glutes, and lightened my wallet,
Made me dip various food stuffs in cheese.
Switzerland, I salute you.
Switzerland, such a fantastic place, but I must admit I returned to Switzerland with a beef to settle. Last time I was in Switzerland in 2015 the mountains hid and refused to show themselves in all their majestic glory. Five days I waited, hoping and praying as I peered out the window each morning. Pleading. But no, there was only cloud, EVERY DAY. I thought it was a joke until I got on the plane and came back to Australia without even a glimpse of these alps that were meant to be there. I dealt with my disappointment by instead going to a chocolate factory and eating away my sorrows away.
This time I was going to see these mountains, I would climb them, I would be victorious. Well I could only hope because of course no one can control the weather and Switzerland is bloody expensive so you want your bang for buck. Well, this time Switzerland delivered, oh how it delivered. We stayed in Camping Junfrau Lauterbrunnen complete with waterfall (as most places are). I hiked, I saw, I ate cheese, I conquered.
When the mountains became all too much for my eye balls we caught the train into Interlaken and rode bikes around the lakes for a different kind of beauty.
So I guess you can say all is forgiven Switzerland old friend.
