There is something endearing about the Gold Coast’s ‘ugly’ abodes. Despite growing up on the Gold Coast, it was only when I moved away and visited, that I noticed the distinct unattractive charm of the buildings on the Gold Coast. When I moved back, I was plonked right in the midst of the ‘baddest’ and ugliest along the Gold Coast Highway in Mermaid Beach. Although some may see these beauties as a complete eyesore, I have warmed to these terribly iconic dwellings.

These so called eyesores were so intriguing that I spent my Friday morning riding around to capture them. I’m glad I did because a lot of these classic Gold Coast buildings are being sold and renovated. It will be a shame to see them slowly disappear. So here you have it some of the best, or the worst, from Mermaid to Miami:
